Position Overview:

As a Machinist in the Direct Manual Machine Shop, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC machining equipment to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. Working in a fast-paced production environment, you will interpret engineering drawings, troubleshoot machining issues, and ensure consistent part quality.

This role requires strong machining experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. You will operate a range of equipment, support continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to maintaining safe and efficient shop operations.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday
7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay: $38.00+ / Per Hour

Requirements

As a member of the Manual Machine Shop Team, you will:

  • Interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications
  • Operate and set up Manual / CNC equipment, including:
  • Manual Mill
  • Manual Lathe
  • TL1 Haas CNC Lathe
  • Sunnen Honing Machines
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and GibbsCAM for programming and job support
  • Perform machine setups and prove-ins for new and existing jobs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve both simple and complex CNC machining issues
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment and tooling, including calibration
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment to ensure quality standards are met
  • Perform TIG welding as required to support fabrication and repair work
  • Work independently within established procedures and production requirements
  • Train and support new and existing team members as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency
  • Support the Maintenance Department with machining and equipment-related tasks as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management

Education, Certificates & Licenses

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Red Seal Journeyman Machinist or Equivalent preferred.
  • Formal Training in CNC Programming or Equivalent.
  • Minimum: Five years of production experience as a machinist in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with Lean Tools and Techniques such as 5S, Setup Reduction, One Piece Flow.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
