Tayco is currently looking for 1 full time and ambitious Production Team Member to join our dynamic team and help us reach a new vision. The team member will play an important role across multiple areas of the Production Team, helping to ensure we consistently produce high-quality products that meet our customers' needs.
The successful candidate may be required to work from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. while undergoing training; upon successful completion of training, their core working hours will transition to 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Flexibly performs all jobs as designated by Tayco which may include, but is not limited to:
- Panel Upholstery
- Panel Assembly, both Switch and Cosmo Products
- Metal Machine Operation
- Wood Product Assembly
- Prep & Packaging
- Shipping
- Wood Machine Operation
- Packaging – Order Optimization
- Material Consolidation
- Seating Sewing & Assembly
- Paint Line Loading
- Follow all production procedures as instructed.
- Understand and review the product through specified production process, recognizing areas of defect and taking appropriate actions to rectify them.
- Perform all work to Tayco standards and ensure final product meets quality standards.
- Determine and report product and equipment malfunctions to Team Lead and/or Production Supervisor.
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Assure the daily and weekly production schedule is adhered to.
- Complies with all company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Without limitation, wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times in accordance with Tayco's policies.
- Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.
- Provides SOP process familiarization and orientation.
- Works overtime as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time at the discretion of management.
- Openly participate in educational and cross-training opportunities as applicable to the position.
- Operate and attend to manual and automated equipment in the production process operation.
Requirements
To be able to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
- Able to adapt to new job duties and possesses flexibility in order to meet changing demand and capacity requirements.
- Able to operate hand/powers tools (drills, pneumatic guns, wrapping machines etc.) and pump trucks.
- Possesses deft dexterity and technical skills in order to upholster fabric with a commitment to and understanding of quality.
- Able to understand, speak, read and write English. Must be able to understand verbal and written work instructions and understand health and safety procedures which are typically routine, as accuracy and attention to detail is necessary.
- Possess strong communication skills in order to document work, problem solve in teams, learn new work processes and participate in continuous learning and regular team meetings.
- Able to work effectively both independently or as a part of a team.
- Able to achieve results and drive efficiencies in their day to day work.
- Able to take initiative and demonstrate pro-active problem solving in their day to day work.
- Able to understand and follow established personal safety, security, and environmental practices. Is knowledgeable of and compliant with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupation Health and Safety Act (OSHA). Must be trained in Health & Safety.
- Able to multi-task, problem solve and adapt to changing conditions and product mixes.
- Works well with others and builds effective working relationships within the department and Tayco.
- Able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and to carry, move, manipulate and/or position them and to move, bend, twist or occasional awkward body positions while performing work.
- Has good hand and eye co-ordination and muscular control sufficient to operate tools or equipment and see closely and/or listen intently in order to achieve very detailed results and/or detect flaws or errors.
