The South Shore Family Resource Association - is currently accepting applications for an INTERIM Parenting Journey Home Visitor in Queens County
The Parenting Journey program is a voluntary program and is intended to provide support to families experiencing needs and challenges that may impact overall family functioning by providing home-based visits.
The Home Visitor will be responsible for:
- Offering home visiting to families identified through family centered, strengths-based approaches,
- Screening, family assessment, goal setting, referrals to other community services, documentation, and case conferencing.
- The candidate will also be required to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree/diploma in Social Sciences or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Knowledge and skills in child and youth development
- Knowledge and understanding of positive parenting and parent/child relationships.
- Knowledge of the principles of adult education.
- Experience in working with families.
- Experience in working with children and youth.
- Experience in working in a community-based setting.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of community development principles and experience in applying them.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience with trauma informed practices and approaches.
- Ability to build relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of the services and support for families in Queens County.
- Basic computer skills.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Hours, Renumeration and Start Date:
- *This is an interim position to cover for an absence;* but will be for a minimum of 10 weeks.
- 30 hours per week.
- $24/hour.
- A anticipated start date - August 2026, this term position will end October 23rd with possibility of extension at that time.
