Position Title: Canadian Adult Education Facilitator
Program: Natoaganeg Community Development
Salary: Commensurate with Education and Experience
Hours of Work: 75 hours bi-weekly
Status: Term, Two-years

Suitability

We are seeking a dedicated and culturally rooted Canadian Adult Education Facilitator to support the educational success of Indigenous adult learners. The ideal candidate is passionate about wholistic education, community engagement, and working in a supportive, learner-centered space.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver adult education programs (literacy, CAEC, workplace skills, etc.)
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to adult learners' needs.
  • Facilitate engaging classroom discussions and activities.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Integrate Indigenous culture, language, and values into curriculum and teaching methods
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
  • Support learners' personal and educational goals through mentorship and guidance
  • Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or teaching certification
  • Experience in adult education, preferably with Indigenous learners is an asset
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and traditions is an asset
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong, trust-based relationships with adult learners and the broader community
