We are seeking compassionate, organized, and proactive Social Work Technicians to join our dedicated Child and Youth Well-Being Programs. Teams include child protection, child and youth in care and our early help (prevention) program. These positions are across the province. In this meaningful role, you will support children, youth, and families involved with the various child and youth well-being programs, working closely with social workers as part of an interdisciplinary team to promote safety, well-being, and permanency for vulnerable children and youth
What you will do:
As a Social Work Technician, you will:
- Assist social workers in delivering services to children and families, supporting early help, children and youth in care, investigations, ongoing child protection, and evidence-based interventions.
- Conduct in-person home visits and collateral contacts to monitor safety, assess well-being, and support the implementation of plans.
- Support young people in reaching the pillars of the equitable standards ensuring permanency and lifelong connections.
- Participate in case reviews and case conferences.
- Help coordinate and deliver services such as supervised visits, transportation to appointments, and family reunification supports.
- Maintain accurate case documentation, progress notes, and records in accordance with departmental standards.
- Assist with crisis response, including immediate safety interventions under the guidance of a social worker.
- Provide practical support to children and caregivers, including helping with forms, referrals, and navigating available services and supports.
- Provide evidence-interventions promoting research and effective-solutions that support resiliency and empowerment.
- Act as a liaison between families, social workers, schools, health care providers, partners and community agencies.
- Support the delivery of prevention and early intervention initiatives within the department and community.
What we're looking for:
- Experience working in child and youth well-being programs (child welfare), social services, education, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills with a trauma-informed and child/youth-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of child development, family systems, and child protection legislation is an asset.
- Skilled in problem-solving, crisis management, and accurate documentation.
- Comfort and commitment to with community engagement, including working with diverse and vulnerable populations.

What You'll Bring:
- Education: Graduation from a 2-year social service diploma program or a related field, recognized by the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
- Registration: Must be a member in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
Language Requirements:
Written and spoken competence in English or French is required for some vacancies, while other positions may require written and spoken competence in both English AND French. Please specify your language proficiency on your resume.
Operational Requirements:
- Working variable hours within the assigned zone may be required. Possession of a valid driver's license and your own means of transportation is a must.
Additional Requirements:
- A Criminal History Clearance and an SD Record Check (under the Family Services Act) will be required before appointment.
