Make a Difference in the Lives of Seniors in Our Community

We are seeking compassionate, organized, and proactive Social Work Technicians to join our dedicated Long-Term Care (LTC) team in the Saint John, St. Stephen and Sussex area. In this meaningful role, you will provide direct support to clients and families navigating the LTC system and work closely with social workers as an interdisciplinary team member to ensure high-quality, client-centered care.

What you will do:

As a Social Work Technician, you will:

  • Support clients and applicants throughout the LTC process, from initial contact through ongoing care planning.
  • Conduct case reviews, prioritizing in-person visits.
  • Collaborate with social workers to develop, implement, and adjust care plans that meet program standards and client needs.
  • Maintain client records, monitor care plans, and proactively address issues that could delay or disrupt service.
  • Assist with incident report analysis, crisis intervention, and caregiver support, as well as facilitating referrals.
  • Educate clients, families, and service providers about LTC services, financial obligations, and provide support in navigating the system.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with forms, facility selection, and decision-making related to long-term care options.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute insights from direct client interactions.
  • Facilitate communication and advocacy among clients, families, social workers, and service providers.
  • Engage with the community through outreach, information sessions, and collaboration with senior centers and local organizations.

  • Experience working in social services, healthcare, case management, or a related field is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of long-term care services, community resources, and care planning processes is an asset.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and documentation.
  • Comfort with public speaking and community engagement is an asset.

What You'll Bring:

  • Education: Graduation from a 2-year social service diploma program or a related field, recognized by the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
  • Registration: Must be a member in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.

Language Requirements:

  • Written and spoken competence in English is required for some vacancies, while other positions may require written and spoken competence in both English AND French. Please specify your language proficiency on your resume.

Operational Requirements:

  • Working variable hours within the assigned zone may be required. Possession of a valid driver's license and your own means of transportation is a must.

Additional Requirements:

  • A Criminal History Clearance and an SD Record Check (under the Family Services Act) will be required before appointment.
