Communications and Marketing Coordinator
Communications and Marketing Coordinator
Launch your communications career while helping transform healthcare in our community. If you are an emerging communications and marketing professional looking for meaningful work, this is an opportunity to build your career while making a real difference.
The Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation is entering into one of the most exciting chapters in its history as we are preparing for a transformational fundraising campaign that will help shape the future of healthcare in our community. We're looking for a creative, digitally savvy Communications and Marketing Coordinator to help tell our story, engage donors and inspire community support.
Through the generosity of our donors, we help create a community in which everyone has pathways to leading edge healthcare innovations, technology, programs and services. The Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation continues to connect our community with opportunities to improve healthcare close to home. Since 1975, generous donors have invested more than $50 million in equipment, technology, facilities, and programs that enhance patient care at Dartmouth General Hospital.
Communications will be key as the DGH Foundation prepares for a new fundraising campaign, marking the Hospital's 50th anniversary. Every story, social media post, donor letter, publication and event helps to build awareness, inspire generosity and demonstrate the incredible impact philanthropy has on patient care. Joining our team now means you'll have the opportunity to help shape a milestone in the DGH Foundation's history while developing valuable experience across every aspect of communications and marketing.
About the Role
Working with the Manager and Senior Manager, Communications and Marketing, you will help create and share engaging content that connects our community with our mission. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating visual content, writing, managing social media and helping to bring ideas to life across multiple channels.
No two days are the same. You'll gain experience in digital marketing, storytelling, fundraising communications, events, branding and campaign communications.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Create engaging content for the DGH Foundation's social media channels, helping to grow our audience and increase community engagement.
- Develop social media campaigns that support fundraising initiatives, donor recognition, events, and the DGH Foundation's upcoming campaign.
- Capture photos and video content that helps highlight the impact of donor support.
- Assist in the development (design and content) and production of internal and external communications materials such as brochures and handbooks, event programs, newsletters, press releases, annual reports, templates, videos, posters, banners, and other promotional and fundraising material.
- Providing content, editorial assistance, proof-reading and input on development of corporate and donor correspondence and reports to ensure a consistent image.
- Work with team to maintain and update DGH Foundation website content.
- Assist with event communications and provide communications support for DGH Foundation activities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Profile
You love creating content for social media and you understand what makes audiences continue to feel engaged. You are comfortable using social media scheduling tools and creating social media graphics using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite. You are creative, curious, and excited to learn new skills. You are a self-starter, a very organized person with strong planning skills and can manage multiple priorities at any given time. Your time management skills are excellent. You meet deadlines and are results oriented.
You enjoy working in a team environment. You are a good communicator and a strong relationship builder. You are comfortable interacting with a broad range of key contacts and can engage with staff, suppliers, donors, volunteers, hospital representatives and executives, to name a few. You are discrete and can maintain confidential information. You are good at information distillation, and can recognize, curate, and communicate relevant information related to donor motivations and interest. You want to contribute to a mission that has a meaningful impact on people's lives.
Qualifications
We're looking for potential as much as experience. The ideal candidate will have:
- A diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related field.
- Experience creating content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube through work, internships, volunteer roles or personal projects.
- Experience using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort learning new technology.
- Photography, video editing or digital marketing experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience with website content management systems, analytics tools or fundraising software is also an asset.
A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required. Some evening and weekend work may be required to support DGH Foundation events.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary range of $49,000 - $54,500, along with a competitive benefits package. This includes a defined benefit pension plan, health and dental plans and an employee and family assistance plan.
Our office is located at Dartmouth General Hospital, at 325 Pleasant Street in Dartmouth, NS.
