Field Systems Specialist

Job Description

At Mabel Systems, we build traceability technology used directly on the plant floor - scanners, tablets, barcodes, scales and software that help seafood processors track inventory, manage workflows, and meet growing global traceability requirements. We're looking for a Field Systems Specialist who enjoys solving practical technical problems, working alongside plant staff, and helping teams confidently adopt new technology in their day-to-day work.

About the Role

This role is central to how our customers succeed with the Mabel system. You'll work directly with seafood processing teams as they adopt new technology that helps them improve traceability, inventory management, and operational visibility. Your work ensures the system functions smoothly in real-world plant environments and that staff feel confident using it in their day-to-day operations.

You'll also play an important role in helping us improve the product. By observing how facilities operate and relaying feedback to the team, you'll help shape how Mabel evolves and how future customers are onboarded.

One of the unexpected perks of this role is where it takes you. You'll spend time in seafood plants and coastal communities across Atlantic Canada, places most people never get the chance to visit. From small fishing villages to busy processing facilities, you'll meet hardworking people who genuinely care about what they do. If you enjoy getting out from behind a desk and seeing parts of the region that most travellers miss, this is a pretty unique opportunity.

What You'll Do

  • Travel to seafood buyers and processing facilities to deploy and configure the Mabel System solution
  • Set up and troubleshoot devices such as tablets, scanners, and printers
  • Train staff on how to use the system within their daily workflows
  • Work directly alongside operators on the plant floor to ensure the system is used correctly
  • Relay product feedback and feature requests to the development team
  • Help improve onboarding materials, procedures, and training resources

What We're Looking For

  • Experience troubleshooting (IT support, field service, or similar roles)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm when diagnosing issues
  • A patient and practical approach to teaching people new technology
  • Comfortable working directly with plant staff and explaining systems to non-technical users
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to relay clear information back to the team
  • Willingness to travel regularly and spend time on-site with customers

Nice-to-have (but not required):

  • Comfortable working with hardware and software in real-world environments
  • Field service or installation experience
  • Training experience
  • Networking experience

About Mabel Systems

Mabel Systems develops technology that helps seafood exporters and processors track and manage their operations more effectively. Our system combines hardware and software to support traceability, inventory tracking, and workflow management directly on the plant floor. We work closely with seafood processors to build tools that are practical, reliable, and designed for real operational environments. As our customer base grows, we're expanding our team to ensure facilities can successfully deploy and adopt the Mabel system in their day-to-day operations.

A Day in This Role

One day you might be in a seafood processing plant, helping a team learn how to use scanners and tablets to track incoming product and manage their workflow. You'll work alongside plant staff, answer questions, troubleshoot issues, and make sure the system is working smoothly in real operational conditions.

Another day might be spent preparing for an upcoming installation - making sure all devices are accounted for, reviewing plant requirements, or documenting notes from a recent customer visit so the rollout of the solution goes off without a hitch. You'll spend time both in the field and working with the team to refine training materials, improve onboarding processes, and help ensure each new customer can successfully adopt the Mabel system.

Regular travel to seafood processing facilities across Atlantic Canada will be required. Must have a valid drivers license to apply.

Pay: CA$70,000.00-CA$80,000.00 per year
