Title: Digital Skills and Computer Repair Technician Intern- Computers for Success Canada NS (CFSC NS)

The Nova Scotia Education Common Services Bureau (NSECSB), an affiliate of Computers for Success Canada (CFSC) (formerly Computers for Schools Canada), supports the development of advanced digital skills among youth by providing meaningful internship opportunities that enhance their technical expertise, employability, and career readiness across Nova Scotia. CFSC NS seeks to enhance the employability and marketability of youth through internships specifically targeted to develop expertise and skills needed to actively participate in the digital economy.

CFSC NS is seeking a Digital Skills and Computer Repair Technician Intern to join our team. This internship is designed to enhance the employability and marketability of youth by providing valuable hands-on experience and developing the digital and technical skills needed to participate in today's digital economy. Interns will gain practical experience in evaluating, repairing, refurbishing, and preparing donated computer equipment for distribution to schools, charities, and community organizations throughout Nova Scotia. Participants will also help support environmental sustainability by assisting with responsible e-waste management and recycling.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, refurbish, and repair donated computer equipment, peripherals, and other educational technology for distribution to schools and related organizations.
  • Test computer hardware and software to ensure equipment is fully functional.
  • Prepare refurbished computers and related equipment for shipment.
  • Handle, sort, and prepare electronic waste (e-waste) for shipment to certified recycling partners.
  • Assist with the pickup of donated equipment, as required.
  • Report to the Warehouse Supervisor and provide regular progress updates.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and workplace safety guidelines established by Computers for Success, NS or its parent body.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Eligibility

To be eligible to work as an intern you must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years old (inclusive) at the start of the internship.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada or an individual legally authorized to work in Canada with a valid work permit.
  • Be willing to provide a Criminal Record Check.

Salary and Hours of Work:

  • Duration: 6-month internship, with the possibility of an extension.
  • Hourly Rate: $17.50 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week.
