The Opportunity
Clearwater Seafoods is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team at our seafood processing facility in Lockeport, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, plant efficiency, and safe operations through preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventative, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on plant equipment
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain processing, packaging, and material handling equipment
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, forklifts (electric and propane/gas), and other production equipment
- Install, modify, adjust, dismantle, and replace equipment components as required
- Conduct equipment inspections and recommend repairs, replacements, or improvements
- Complete maintenance documentation, inspections, and work orders
- Support ongoing plant operations by responding to maintenance requests and breakdowns
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures
- Perform general maintenance duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of maintenance, mechanical, industrial, plant, or related experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Experience troubleshooting equipment or a strong interest in developing these skills
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, work instructions, and maintenance procedures
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills for maintenance records and work orders
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
Assets
- Experience with electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Technical training, trade certification, apprenticeship experience, or vocational education
- Experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment
