About the Role - WHOLESALE FLORAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE
We're looking for an experienced, relationship-driven Wholesale Floral Sales Representative to help grow our wholesale floral business. This is more than a sales role. We're looking for someone who understands the floral industry; from seasonal availability and procurement cycles to bouquet composition and customer buying patterns and can apply their experience and knowledge to create value for our customers.
Working closely with our procurement, sales and production teams, you'll help customers plan ahead for key floral holidays, recommend the right products at the right time, and develop long-term business relationships built on trust and expertise. If you have demonstrated practical experience within the horticultural industry, exceptional sales and client service skills, knowledge of the wholesale sales cycle, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Grow the Business
- Develop and grow wholesale floral sales with existing customers and identifying new business opportunities throughout the region.
- Build and execute a business development plan focused on expanding macflowers' wholesale customer base.
- Develop solid, long-term relationships with florists, independent retailers, and other wholesale customers.
- Represent macflowers professionally throughout the marketplace.
Be a Trusted Floral Advisor
- Provide expert guidance on fresh-cut flowers, bouquets, potted plants, seasonal products, and current floral trends.
- Recommend products, substitutions, and seasonal assortments that align customer needs with product availability, procurement costs, and margin expectations.
- Maintain regular communication internally and externally, regarding product availability, new offerings, promotions, service requirements and closing sales.
Drive Seasonal Success
- Identify opportunities to maximize seasonal sales while protecting product availability and profitability.
- Work proactively in the floral procurement cycle to secure customer commitments well in advance of key floral holidays and event seasons, including Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, wedding and graduation seasons.
Collaborate Across the Business
- Partner closely with the procurement manager to understand purchasing plans, seasonal availability, and inventory levels.
- Provide customer insights and market feedback to support purchasing decisions, product assortment, and pricing strategies.
- Collaborate with procurement, sales and production to ensure customer expectations are met from order through delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in wholesale floral sales, purchasing, or a related floral industry role.
- Post-secondary education in Horticulture, Floriculture, Agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of fresh flowers, potted plants, seasonal products, bouquet design, and floral care.
- Understanding of procurement cycles, inventory planning, and wholesale distribution.
- Proven ability to build customer relationships and grow sales.
- Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and time-management skills.
- Commercial judgment with the ability to balance customer needs and profitability.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel throughout Atlantic Canada.
