About Us

The Registered Nurses' Union Newfoundland & Labrador (RNU) is the official trade union for 5,800 registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) in Newfoundland and Labrador. Over the years, RNU has transformed from an organization focused mainly on negotiating contracts into a union that champions to protect the health care system, the role of the RN, NPs, and the rights of patients, clients and residents. Through advocacy research and education, RNU has worked to improve the health care system and enhance the livelihood, safety and well-being of our membership.

Job Description

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Digital Communications Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital content creation, proficiency with the Adobe suite, and experience managing WordPress platforms. If you are a proactive, responsible individual who excels in a dynamic environment and demonstrates strong initiative and proactive problem-solving skills, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Digital Content Creation: Develop and produce innovative content, including text, graphics, photography, videography, podcasts, and video conferencing materials. Ensure consistent messaging and voice across all digital channels.
  • Social Media Management: Support the development and implementation of our social media strategy. Create and execute social media plans, producing engaging content such as shorts and reels.
  • Website Management: Maintain and update the company website using WordPress. Handle programming, editing, and overall management to ensure a robust online presence. Collaborate with the Records team to facilitate user access, including user maintenance.
  • Generative AI Utilization: Utilize generative AI tools to enhance digital content creation and improve engagement.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze performance metrics for the website and social media channels using tools like Google Analytics and platform-specific insights. Report trends and recommend improvements.
  • Member Engagement: Enhance member engagement through digital tools, including email platforms, social media, virtual events, and video conferencing. Support and coordinate with branches for adoption and utilization of these tools.
  • Event Support: Assist in organizing and providing support for in-person and virtual events, such as conventions, news conferences, and member meetings.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay updated on emerging communication technologies and tools. Provide recommendations for improving member engagement and communication strategies.
  • Content Development: Draft written communication materials, including member emails, website content, newsletter articles, and other publications.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Digital or Multi-Media, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years' experience in public relations, communications, or creative marketing with a strong emphasis on leveraging digital platforms.
  • Skills: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Office 365 including OneDrive and Teams, MailChimp, and virtual web conferencing tools.
  • Creativity and Initiative: Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be creative, and think outside the box.
  • Social Media Expertise: Experience in creating and executing social media plans. Ability to provide examples of successful social media strategies and their execution.
  • Photography and Videography: Skilled in capturing and editing high-quality photos and videos. Experience in producing engaging shorts and reels. Ability to provide examples of work.
  • Generative AI Comfort: Comfortable using generative AI tools for content creation and innovation.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights. Familiarity with analytical tools like Google Analytics, X (Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook Insights.
  • Team Player: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal skills, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Multitasking: Capable of managing multiple tasks, working under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong Initiative and problem-solving skills: Must be solution orientated and solve problems in an effective manner as well as seek opportunities that will promote the organization.
