Job Opportunity: Manager, Retail and Marketing
The Halifax Wanderers Football Club are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join our team as our Manager of Retail and Marketing. Working from the club's office in downtown Halifax, the successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of retail operations, merchandise needs and consumer experience throughout their purchasing and consumption journey with the club. The ideal candidate would have some familiarity with the Halifax Wanderers, retail experience, product marketing, knowledge of retail operations and strategy and be interested in working with a professional sports organization.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, schedule, and lead retail sales staff for match days, the Wanderers Fan Shop, and club events.
- Develop and execute the club's retail marketing strategy, creating campaigns that drive merchandise sales, fan engagement, and brand awareness.
- Plan and deliver integrated product launches, seasonal campaigns, limited-edition collections, and promotional initiatives from concept through execution.
- Collaborate with the marketing and creative teams to develop compelling content, digital campaigns, email marketing, social media promotions, and in-stadium messaging that support retail objectives.
- Manage the annual retail marketing calendar, aligning merchandise campaigns with the Canadian Premier League season, special events, holidays, and club initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to grow retail revenue through new products, pricing strategies, promotions, cross-selling initiatives, and fan experiences.
- Lead all matchday retail operations, including the setup, operation, and teardown of stadium retail locations.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Wanderers Fan Shop and the Footie Den beverage room, ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
- Manage merchandise inventory, forecasting, purchasing, replenishment, and product assortment planning.
- Analyze sales performance across all retail channels-including the Fan Shop, e-commerce, matchday retail, and third-party retail partners-and develop strategies to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
- Manage the club's e-commerce merchandising strategy, ensuring products, promotions, and online content are current, engaging, and optimized for sales.
- Coordinate retail activations and collaborate with corporate partners to create co-branded merchandise opportunities and promotional campaigns.
- Assist with merchandise donations, corporate partner gifting, and internal product requests.
- Maintain high standards of visual merchandising, store presentation, and brand consistency across all retail environments.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a welcoming, engaging, and fan-focused retail experience.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Positive, energetic, and customer-focused with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and support club operations where needed.
- Experience in retail management, merchandising, purchasing, inventory management, and sales strategy.
- Experience developing and executing marketing campaigns, product launches, and promotional initiatives across digital and physical channels is considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, retail analytics, and inventory management systems is an asset.
- Passion for sports, retail, and creating memorable fan experiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Shopify, or similar retail and marketing platforms is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in sports, entertainment, hospitality, or event-based retail is considered an asset.
Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time position starting mid to late August. The job requires a commitment of 40 hours per week. The hours of work will vary depending on the season and will require evening and weekend work. You will report directly to the Vice-President, Business Development.
Salary Range:
This position will pay $55,000-$65,000.
