Manager of Marketing and Business Development
About the opportunity:
Taste of Nova Scotia is seeking a creative and strategic minded marketing professional to lead the organization's marketing initiatives while identifying opportunities that drive growth, strengthen partnerships, and increase value to our membership.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Marketing and Business Development is responsible for developing and executing the organization's marketing strategy, leading integrated marketing campaigns, managing the Taste of Nova Scotia brand, and advancing innovative initiatives that increase awareness of Nova Scotia's exceptional culinary industry.
As a key member of the team, this position plays an important role in implementing the organization's strategic priorities by delivering impactful marketing initiatives that benefit both the association and its 175 members, while elevating Taste of Nova Scotia as one of Canada's leading culinary marketing organizations.

Taste of Nova Scotia is a membership-based, non-profit, marketing association dedicated to promoting Nova Scotia's exceptional food and drink products and experiences, both here at home and around the world. We have more than 175 members who set and maintain the Taste of Nova Scotia quality standards for food, service, and hospitality.
Our members include an impressive collection of innovative farmers, fishers, producers, processors, artisans, wineries, breweries, distilleries, cideries, and an outstanding collection of restaurants that are committed to showcasing Nova Scotia food and drink on their menus.
Our vision is to be a leading resource for promoting and building the culinary industry in Nova Scotia. Our key mandates are to:

Our team is made up of a passionate, close-knit group of professionals who are dedicated to serving our membership while assisting in the growth and development of Nova Scotia's agri-food, seafood, beverage, export, and culinary tourism industries.
Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Brand Leadership
- Develop and implement the organization's annual marketing strategy aligned with Taste of Nova Scotia's strategic priorities.
- Lead integrated marketing campaigns that increase consumer awareness and promote Nova Scotia's food, beverage, and culinary tourism industries.
- Manage and enhance the association's brand identity across all marketing channels.
- Lead the development of major marketing initiatives including the annual Culinary Guide, seasonal campaigns, and destination marketing initiatives.
- Oversee the use of the brand mark and assets (e.g., Taste logo on member products, etc.).
Digital Marketing & Consumer Engagement
- Lead the organization's digital marketing strategy, including website, email marketing, social media, digital advertising, and content marketing.
- Identify opportunities to expand audience reach and engagement.
- Use marketing analytics to measure campaign performance and optimize results.
- Oversee website strategy to ensure it remains a valuable resource for members and consumers.
Business Development & Organizational Growth
- Identify new opportunities that strengthen Taste of Nova Scotia's marketing programs and organizational impact.
- Develop marketing partnerships, sponsorship opportunities, and revenue-generating initiatives.
- Grow advertising and promotional opportunities across the organization's marketing platforms.
- Explore innovative marketing products and services that create additional value for members.
- Monitor industry trends and recommend new initiatives that position Taste of Nova Scotia as a leader in culinary marketing.
Strategic Partnerships
- Build collaborative relationships with tourism, government, media, and industry partners.
- Develop marketing partnerships that expand the reach of Taste of Nova Scotia campaigns.
- Work collaboratively with members and stakeholders to promote Nova Scotia's culinary sector.
- Represent Taste of Nova Scotia at industry events and networking opportunities.
Member Marketing
- Develop marketing initiatives that increase member exposure and deliver measurable value.
- Work collaboratively with the Manager of Membership Services & Events to support membership recruitment and retention through marketing.
- Create marketing resources that help members maximize the value of their Taste of Nova Scotia membership.
Marketing Communications
- Develop compelling marketing content across digital and print channels.
- Coordinate media opportunities that support marketing initiatives.
- Work with external agencies, designers, photographers, and content creators.
- Prepare marketing materials that support campaigns, events, and organizational priorities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A bachelor's degree (Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline is considered an asset) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic marketing and brand management.
- Proficiency with digital marketing, data analysis, and social media platforms.
- Experience managing digital marketing campaigns and marketing budgets is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and analytics tools is considered an asset.
- A passion for Nova Scotia's food, beverage, and tourism sectors is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent relationship building and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web editing skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
- Valid driver's license (Class 5 or higher is required)
Salary: $60,000 - $68,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
Benefits: Our total compensation package includes optional health and dental plan; three weeks of vacation (increasing with years of service); holiday closures; and inclusion in the association's cell phone plan.
