The NBIHR was recently formed as an expansion of the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (https://canceratlantique.ca/en) in partnership with the Université de Moncton and the Vitalité Health Network.

Position: Bioinformatics platform manager

The platform manager will perform their duties in line with their expertise for the coordination and planning of research and operational activities at the NB-IHR bioinformatics platform. They will be responsible for:

  • Management and quality checks of data generated through collaboration with in-house PIs, other technological platforms, outside clients or large consortia in which NB-IRS participates.
  • Scheduling service and maintenance of servers and other technology at the platform.
  • Coordinating with partner organizations (Vitalité, UMoncton) when servicing, networking or acquiring technology to ensure smooth operations.
  • Develop plans and budgets for regular operation of the platform, turnover of technology, and expansions of capacity with the platform scientist.
  • Participate in regular lab meetings with other bioinformatics platform team members.
  • Ensure that all work is conducted safely and in accordance with organizational policies and ethics norms.
  • Standardization of procedures with the platform scientist, including github and nextflow project management.
  • Participate in ongoing research projects within the lab according to their expertise and may participate in research communication activities, trainee mentoring or personal development activities when appropriate.

Applicants from a biology background must be proficient in R and python with a clear track record of software development experience or administration of linux operating systems beyond single project analyses (e.g. one-time differential gene-expression analysis or variants calling as part of their studies). Those from a CS background should have similar qualifications and a history of working with biological data. Familiarity with Github, Nextflow, SQL or front-end development will be considered favorably.

Language requirements: Fluency in English is required. Fluency or knowledge of French is an asset.

Salary: Salary will be commensurate based on experience.
