The Opportunity
We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead and oversee the financial operations of our organization. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced finance professional who is technically strong, strategic, and motivated to build.
Reporting directly to leadership, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the finance function, strengthen processes and controls, provide financial insight, and support strategic decision-making as the company continues to grow.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, improving processes, mentoring teams, and growing into a broader executive leadership role over time.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely completion of financial activities
- Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Provide financial reporting and insights to support leadership decision-making
- Develop and maintain strong financial processes, policies, and procedures
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting
- Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement and growth
- Support cash flow management, financing decisions, and capital planning
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
- Establish accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement within the finance function
- Build a high-performing accounting environment as the organization scales
Compliance & Controls
- Develop and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures
- Coordinate with external auditors, accountants, and tax advisors
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and requirements
Strategic Partnership
- Act as a trusted financial partner to leadership
- Provide recommendations that improve efficiency, profitability, and operational performance
- Support organizational growth through strong financial planning and analysis
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation preferred (or actively working toward completion)
- 7-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Previous leadership or team management experience required
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Real estate, property management, or construction accounting experience considered an asset
- Experience with Yardi preferred
- Proficiency with Sage and advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, controls, and processes
