The Nova Scotia Firefighters School has been providing high quality instruction to emergency responders for over 50 years. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our growing team. You must be self motivated, maintain a high level of productivity, have a positive outlook, and a professional attitude. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing maintenance services to the Nova Scotia Firefighters School. Schedule will vary but it may primarily involve weekend shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Various cleaning and maintenance functions
• Equipment maintenance, repair and operation
• Construction and facility repairs
• Grounds maintenance
• Daily and periodic inspections
• Logistical and operational support to courses
• Scheduling or effecting fleet vehicle maintenance
• Work as supportive member of team
• Other duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements

• Grade 12 (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is required
• Graduation from a technical school or certification in an appropriate trade (Mechanical, Construction) would be an asset
• Must have, or be willing to obtain, WHMIS and Standard First Aid training
• Must work well with minimum supervision
• Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record (applicants are required to submit a current driver's abstract before appointment)
• Firefighting experience preferred
