A Wilder Experience is presently recruiting sea kayak guides to support our operations for the 2026 season. We are offering part-time and casual positions for the right candidate. The 2026 season runs from June through September 2026, with July and August being our busiest months. This opportunity is available for an immediate start.

Located on the Irish Loop, just an hour's drive south of St John's and on the doorstep of the East Coast Trail and the Avalon Wilderness Preserve, there is no shortage of breathtaking seascapes and boreal forest. Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead groups of clients in single and tandem kayaks, and provide them with a safe, fun, and interactive sea kayaking experience. We are offering half-day and full-day sea kayaking adventures this season.
  • Utilize appropriate risk assessment strategies with respect to marine hazards, sea state, and weather in a dynamic environment.
  • Assess guest's skill levels and adapt accordingly.
  • Follow all required company operating guidelines and safe work practices.
  • Complete all requested daily duties and assist in operations as required.
  • Promote and practice inclusivity when interacting with guests and staff.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Previous sea kayak guiding experience preferred, but training provided for those who have extensive experience sea kayaking. Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level 1 or equivalent is preferred or significant sea kayaking experience.
  • First-aid certification, or willingness to obtain standard first aid CPR certification.
  • Valid class 5 (or equivalent) motor vehicle license with clear driving record
  • High level of fitness and free of injury
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Nature interpretation skills an asset

  • Highly personable, confident, engaging, and adaptable
  • Self-motivated and able to work as part of a small team
  • Strong leadership skills

Compensation

  • Guides are paid a competitive hourly rate. Rate is commensurate to level of experience.
  • Guides keep 100% of gratuity earned
  • End of season $ bonus for those who remain until August 31 and complete at least one shift per week.
