Director of Care

Mount Saint Joseph is seeking a Director of Care to join our senior management team. The Director of Care is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing care services to support safe, compassionate, and high-quality resident care in accordance with Mount Saint Joseph's mission, policies, standards, and applicable provincial requirements.

Responsibilities

The Director of Care will:

  • Provide leadership and direction to resident care services.
  • Monitor and support quality resident care and services.
  • Lead interdisciplinary approaches to resident care.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement care-related policies and procedures.
  • Participate in admission processes, resident orientation, and care planning.
  • Administer and monitor the care services budget.
  • Support recruitment, orientation, supervision, performance management, and ongoing education of assigned staff.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, staff, physicians, managers, external agencies, and the community.
  • Support infection control, health and safety, risk management, quality assurance, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Provide administrative coverage for the facility when required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree.
  • Current registration and good standing with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant healthcare management experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, tact, initiative, and sound judgment.
  • Good attendance and previous work record.
  • Physical ability to perform assigned duties.
  • Clean Criminal and Social Development checks.

Experience in long-term care would be considered an asset.

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required based on operational needs.

Compensation and Benefits

Mount Saint Joseph offers a competitive salary, group insurance benefits, flexible vacation scheduling, and participation in the NB Nursing Home Pension Plan. Applicants currently participating in an eligible New Brunswick hospital pension plan should be able to benefit from existing reciprocal pension arrangements with the NB Nursing Home Pension Plan, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions.
