Controller

Reporting to the VP Finance, the Controller is responsible for the timely completion, accuracy and compliance of all the financial records of the company. Working in an entrepreneurial environment with a motivated and close-knit team, key requirements include:

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement, analyse, and improve processes and procedures
• Supervision of accounting department staff
• Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Assist with annual budget process
• Auditing and reconciliation of accounts
• Financial and operational analysis
• Manage cash flow and foreign exchange
• File sales taxes and make corporate tax payments
• Support for external IT provider and be onsite contact for IT issues
• Period close and year-end close
• Government Reporting (Stats Canada, Federal Plastic Registry, etc)
• Recycling Fee calculations, analysis, and submissions (Circular Materials)
• Support auditors through their yearly audit
• Other duties and projects assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Commerce or Business administration degree
• A professional designation is an asset but not required
• 3-5 years of experience
• Working knowledge of Syspro Business Solutions or similar ERP system
• Strong communication skills, including demonstrated ability to present insights and actionable recommendations in a concise manner across functional teams.
• Proven track record of effectively handling multiple projects simultaneously as well as ability to work at a high level of productivity
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• A detail-oriented individual, you have a passion for numbers and financial forecasting
• Direct staff supervision experience
