Requirements:
- Red Sealed Electrician with Industrial focus
- Be able to work a normal Monday-Friday work week with an on-call rotation that requires evening, night, weekend and holiday hours
- Valid Class 5 license at hiring with a requirement to achieve Class 3 within one year
- Education and/or considerable applicable experience in a field related to the wastewater treatment industry may be considered
- Candidates must have or be able to attain certification through a provincially administered program. The incumbent is expected to obtain their first level of certification at the end of their first year of employment and continue these levels as experience is achieved
As a Wastewater Operator with the Water Resource Recovery/H2O Fredericton division you will be a vital member of the team operating and maintaining the wastewater system throughout the City of Fredericton including 2 treatment facilities and 34 lift stations. The successful candidate will be required to apply skills in facility operations, electrical maintenance, industrial maintenance, and equipment operation.
What You'll Do:
- Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and related equipment, sensors, pumps, motors, and other industry related equipment
- Inspect, clean and maintain sewage lift stations, wet wells, screening/grit collectors, valve chambers, and rotating equipment.
- Operate de-watering systems efficiently
- Install, calibrate and troubleshooting variable frequency drives, motor controllers, process/control equipment
- Maintain electrical systems, troubleshooting as needed and install new equipment
- Maintain records using computer data entry, and organization of data
- Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers and related equipment
- Using SCADA monitor, investigate and determine process functions are working optimally and make process changes as needed
- Use and have knowledge of personal protective equipment and use the equipment provided by the employer
- Complete sample collection and laboratory tasks to ensure plant operation is effective
- Interaction with the public, contractors and other municipal staff as required
- Required to work in all weather conditions
- Perform manual work with dexterity, competency and self-supervision
- Ability to speak in both official languages would be considered an asset

- Valid Class V NB Drivers license. Class 3 with E endorsement considered an asset

- Physical strength and agility to complete strenuous labouring tasks
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods, codes and materials
- Diploma in a recognized program or trade which skills can be transferred to this position
- Applicants selected for an interview may be asked to participate in job related testing that includes entering a underground vault and wearing an SCBA
