ENVIRONMENT & CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY ADVISOR

Position: Full Time contract position
Available: July 2025
Term: July 2025 - March 2028

Scope:

The position provides NSFM with policy and research support in consideration of the province's strategy around the environment and climate change. The position will engage with local governments in supporting their efforts in adaptation, GHG reduction, and solid waste diversion. In addition, this position will provide general policy and research support to NSFM.

Qualifications:

  • A self-directed individual with the ability to meet deliverables outlined in a workplan
  • Experience with green infrastructure projects is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, sustainable development practices, and provincial policies related to municipal planning and development
  • Knowledge of the impacts of climate change and natural disasters on communities, as well as associated adaptation and mitigation efforts
  • Project management experience with the ability to meet deadlines and provide quarterly reporting to the provincial funder
  • Strong facilitation skills, including working with various stakeholders from academia, business, government, and municipal government

Education:

  • Post secondary degree in environmental studies, public administration, or a related field

Hours of Work:

  • 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Friday
  • Some evening and weekend work required from time to time

Salary & Benefits:

  • $77,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
