Human Service Worker
Overview:
The Bilijk Health and Wellness Centre is currently seeking and accepting applications for the position of Human Service Worker for the NAADAP Program.
Title: Human Service Worker
Type: Full-Time, 33 hours per week, hours subject to change based on operational requirements
Department: Bilijk Health Center
Reports to: Director of Health
In collaboration with Addictions and Mental Health team members, Responsibilities include:
· assess clients by collecting health information, planning, and implementing wellness plans for individuals and groups.
· ensure that traditional and cultural health approaches are incorporated into all health service delivery.
· provide ongoing client support and evaluation of interventions.
· assist clients to access resources in Bilijk First Nation (Child & Family Services; Social Assistance, Housing, etc.) and outside the community (mental health and addictions programs, GNB Social Development, NNADAP recovery programs, etc.).
· teach and support the development of life skills to promote healthy living.
· maintain a high level of confidentiality in written and verbal communications.
· implement and organize the delivery of specific services within the community. For example: Food Bag Program to address food insecurity.
· build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and partnering agencies.
· maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research.
· mitigate risk when working with clients and community.
Requirements include:
· Human Services Certificate, Human Services Diploma, or equivalent
· Knowledge and experience working with First Nations people; and people experiencing substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges utilizing treatment, prevention, and/or harm reduction strategies.
· Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
· Demonstrates compassion when working with clients.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Relationship building skills that involve trust and respect.
· Knowledge and experience with crisis intervention.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team.
· Multitasks and prioritizes work efficiently.
· Attends work regularly.
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment that includes the health centre and in the community.
· Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
· Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check.
