Bluedrop Training & Simulation Inc. (BTSI) focuses on design and development of eLearning, simulation, and integrated training solutions for our clients.

VP Operations

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the VP Operations oversees the business management of BTSI’s professional services practice including eLearning development, learning consulting and design, and planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities. The incumbent is expected to provide leadership and support to the professional services team by taking a hands-on approach within the BTSI Delivery organization based out of our Halifax location. This would include; continuously monitoring and improving best operational practices, providing business leadership and mentoring, identifying and managing human resource requirements, collaborating with the BTSI sales organization to develop learning solutions for clients, analyzing and reporting on financial performance regularly, and building a culture of high quality, professionalism, and customer service.


The VP Operations performs a wide range of duties including the following:

  • Act as the business leader for the BTSI professional services (PS) line of business
  • Manage financial performance and effectiveness of the PS team
  • Lead and motivate project managers and resource managers to ensure the efficient delivery of eLearning deliverable
  • Manage and develop effective and efficient processes for managing the delivery of learning products and services
  • Collaborate with BTSI sales team to help define scope, deliverables, timelines, risks, and processes associated with opportunities
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with newly acquired business/clients
  • Oversee and work with a team of subject matter experts to ensure seamless delivery of learning content to end customer
  • Work directly with client project executives to identify and resolve project issues proactively
  • Manage contract execution and program budgets and provide relevant reports for client and internal use with the assistance of project team
  • In consultation with the Director, Human Resources, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff
  • Liaise with other managers to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery
  • Monitor financial projections and report variance to the Chief Operating Officer on a regular basis
  • Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to manage the risks
  • Monitor delivery activities and conduct regular evaluation within the projects
  • Establish and maintain effective quality, compliance, security and continuous improvement programs that satisfy ISO registration and applicable government security regulations



  • University degree in Business or a related subject


  • 5-10 years of experience in a senior business management role within the eLearning industry
  • Experience in managing quality, compliance and continuous improvement programs
  • Experience in maintaining company security programs
  • Experience working within a defence-related business environment would be considered a strong asset
  • Must be able to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance

Professional designation

  • PMP designation would be an asset

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Business acumen a must
  • Knowledge of eLearning courseware development business process and procedures
  • Knowledge of program management
  • Knowledge of client groups and/or issues related to the defence and aerospace domain
