Definition of Work

The Programmer is accountable for the construction, testing, implementation and documentation of efficient computer programs that satisfy the business requirements of WorkplaceNL.  This position is responsible for completing enhancements and supporting various business applications.  The incumbent must plan, co-ordinate and prioritize their day to day activities so that time estimates and deadlines are met. When conflicting priorities or unforeseen problems arise that impact the schedule, the Programmer consults with senior staff to resolve conflicts.

Qualifications

Qualifications for the position include a university degree in computer science or related discipline with one year programming experience using Object oriented methodologies or a college diploma in computer science or related discipline with three years’ programming experience using Object oriented methodologies.  The incumbent must have the ability to work in a team environment is important. As well, the person must have well developed communication, organization, analytical, interpersonal and self-management skills. The person must also be adaptable, understand change management and be customer focused.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary $53,916 - $59,483
