NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Community College Instructor.  Our College is committed to transforming lives and communities. Reporting to the department head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Successful candidates will have the knowledge, skills, and ability to teach Educational Assistant students in the classroom and in a skills lab setting. The candidate will also supervise, counsel, guide and evaluate students during their practical rotation in a school or other professional environment.  Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to: guidance for school-age children and adolescents, application of strategies for the inclusive classroom, health care in the educational environment, special topics in mental health, interpersonal communication, human growth and development, children with exceptionalities and introduction to sociology.  The successful candidate will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Behavioural Psychology with a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related experience in an educational setting; OR a Diploma in Child and Youth Care or a related field, with a minimum of four (4) years of recent and related experience in an educational setting; OR a Certificate in Educational Assistant with a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience in an educational setting. Excellent knowledge of the MS Office Suite of products is required. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,692 to $2,685 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $2,932 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education – Instructional Group) for the College.
