The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking three (3) individuals to join the Highway Striping unit of the Operations Branch as Operations Worker II’s working out of the Fredericton and Miramichi offices.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the pre-marking and application of pavement markings for passing, non-passing and related highway striping. Duties may also involve the operation of portable paint machines, operation of spray paint equipment on the highway striper and/or paint removing machines to apply or remove symbols and markings on the highway surface.  The successful candidates will be hired by the Operations Branch in Fredericton but will be assigned either Miramichi or Fredericton domicile.

Essential Qualifications:  The completion of grade ten (10) and a minimum one (1) year experience in highway striping, marking and machine operation.

Possession of a valid class 3E New Brunswick driver’s license is required.

Written and spoken competence in English or in French is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates who have worked on Pavement Markings Operations for more than one (1) year. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualification in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

The following operational requirements are also required: extensive travel throughout the province and a flexible working schedule.

Behavioural Competencies: The successful candidate will possess the following behavioral competencies: Results Orientation, Teamwork and Cooperation, Effective Interactive Communication.

Résumés should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level.

Salary: $19.30 hourly (based on a 40 hour week).
