Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing/Communications Advisor is responsible for supporting both the faculty of Graduate Studies and the College of Continuing Education.  The incumbent will be responsible for generating awareness and enhancing the reputations of these two units, both internally and externally through strategic, integrated and measurable communication and marketing plans and tactics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide marketing, communications and public relations counsel and support to unit leaders by preparing and executing strategic marketing/communications plans that include promotional, support materials, websites, briefing notes, key messages, presentations, etc.
  • Develop proactive storytelling plans, including regular monthly contributions to Dal News; monitor, manage, identify and pitch stories.
  • Build strong relationships with researchers, faculties and communications colleagues across campus in an effort to integrate efforts and identify and tell key stories.
  • Ensure strategic initiatives and key messages are well coordinated with other ongoing communication and marketing projects and with institutional priorities.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree preferably in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or other related field with three to five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Must be comfortable working across all platforms and mediums and have the ability to develop compelling writings using words, images and photographs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong organizational skills are required. Previous experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.

Salary Range:  $49,498 - $66,968 per annum (ADM-05). This is a 2 year term position. This is a provisional classification. Formal classification procedures will be initiated by the Compensation & Job Evaluation Unit in approximately six months.

This position is part of the Dalhousie Professional & Managerial Group (DPMG).
