Reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for contributing to the company's sales and profitability by optimizing the purchasing and loyalty of the bakery department of our affiliated stores under the IGA, Traditions Markets and Bonichoix banners. He will also manage the purchasing and loyalty of the bakery departments. More specifically, he/she will be responsible for establishing an effective partnership with the owners and department managers in his/her sector, in order to develop their expertise and support them in achieving sales and purchasing loyalty objectives as well as monitoring inventories in line with the banners' alignments.
To do so, you will:
  • Ensure the consistency of the bakery departments with the banners' standards by executing programs, planograms and operational standards in store and ensure the banner's image is maintained;
  • Monitor the financial results of the department for each of the stores under his/her supervision, analyze and understand the various issues causing margin and sales losses in order to implement effective action plans;
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing department (products, market trends, communications, equipment, new products, local trends);
  • Develop and present web videos, vignettes and PowerPoint presentations (be comfortable making these types of presentations);
  • Establish a harmonious and trusting relationship and be a business partner with the merchants in his/her sector in order to advise and support them in achieving their organizational objectives, sales and purchase loyalty;
  • Collaborate with merchants to identify individual development needs of department managers and support the realization of the development plan to achieve sales with a good marketing and execution strategy;
  • Propose improvement and innovation projects and participate in various meetings with the operations, development and merchandising teams;
  • Prepare and support the facilitation of training courses and write various detailed documents to support and train department managers;
  • Support the managers in the management of deadlines for store openings, renovations and expansions. Be responsible for the bakery departments (ordering equipment, complete training, marketing);
  • Have training in hygiene and sanitation (MAPAQ) and ensure compliance with the standards required by the MAPAQ and Sobeys in store.
  • Complete mandatory supervision reports in all IGA, Marchés Traditions and Bonichoix stores according to the annual objective.
Job Requirements
  • You have a DEC (or equivalent) in retail or administration, combined with 5 years of relevant experience as a bakery manager (any other combination deemed equivalent will be considered);
  • You demonstrate a facility for developing clear and efficient processes;
  • You are an autonomous person, with a creative and innovative spirit who manages time and resources efficiently in order to perform quality work;
  • You are a mobilizer and see to the development and coaching of your business partners by establishing relationships of trust;
  • You have good computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, OneDrive);
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French.
You will be required to travel frequently within your territory: New Brunswick, Gaspésie and Ile de la Madeleine Overview
