Administrative Assistant/Project Coordinator

Nor-Tec Group is a full service electrical contractor. We have been servicing Winnipeg and the far reaches of most of Manitoba for 40 years. Our experience has been from Institutional projects to Industrial projects to Municipal projects and a variety of Manufacturing Plant projects. We are well versed in servicing all of the electrical needs for a wide variety of clients.

We are looking for an Administration Assistant/Project Coordinator to assist our Project Managers and other support staff at various sites. We provide a unique experience to those looking to gain exposure in a dynamic organization. We are a leader in the construction industry, equipping our team of skilled professionals with vision, guidance and tools, required to bring construction projects to life.

Working side by side with our team of Project Managers and Superintendents, you will provide project coordination support to the project team.

Responsibilities of this position would include:

  • Monitor, track and log, PCNs, shop drawings, site instructions, RFIs, and deliveries. Request for status updates on these items as required.
  • Prepare shop drawings for submittal and release. Monitor, File and request for updates in status of shop drawings during the submittal process.
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports, time sheets and safety.
  • Create, set up and collate all O&M information/manuals.
  • Act as the point of contact for internal and external clients, suppliers, field staff, management, other trades, etc. Provides status updates from all parties and provides them to Project Managers, support staff, etc.
  • Assist, create, and update project schedule. Plan/Schedule meetings and take meeting minutes.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Currently looking for an individual that possess the following skills and education:

  • Graduated with a Highschool Diploma, GED or equivalent standards.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Project Coordinator and Administration.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English orally and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Projects in particular)
  • Proven ability to work within a team and independently with minimal supervision. This includes the ability to think critically and resolve conflicts that may arise between sub trades and other applicable third parties.
  • Excellent time management skills. Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks meeting tight deadlines.
  • Must have attention to detail.

Assets for this position would be:

  • Experience and knowledge of Electrical Industry practices and standards.
  • Currently enrolled, or graduated from a Business Administration program and/or Construction Project Management program from a recognized post-secondary intuition.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Candidate has Canadian citizenship or has a valid work permit.
  • Must have current and valid Class 5 drivers license and use of a personal motor vehicle for travel to jobsites.
