This position would take place at our Bloomington, MN - Canton, MA - or Richmond Hill, Ontario office. Typically, in office 4 days a week with 1 hybrid day.

Mission of the Role

The Senior Compensation Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise-wide compensation programs. This role partners closely with senior leadership to ensure compensation strategies align with business objectives, support talent acquisition and retention, and maintain internal equity and external competitiveness. The Senior Compensation Manager also leads complex compensation initiatives, mentors junior team members, and ensures compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the development and execution of compensation strategies for North America that support organizational goals and workforce planning.
    • Support South America in the execution of compensation strategies.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and HR leadership on compensation-related matters.
    • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in compensation practices, tools, and analytics.
  • Program Design & Oversight
    • Oversee the design and administration of base pay structures, short- and long-term incentive plans, and executive compensation programs.
    • Manages all aspect of the company variable compensation plans, including Sales Incentive Plans (SIPs), Sales Management Incentive Plans (SMIPs) and North America Incentive Plans (NAIPs).
    • Manage annual salary increase budgeting and salary increase proposal process in partnership with Finance.
    • Lead the annual compensation planning cycle, including merit, bonus, and equity processes.
    • Evaluate and enhance compensation frameworks to support evolving business needs, including global expansion or M&A activity.
    • Partner with Global Compensation in job architecture and evaluation processes to ensure job roles aligns with business goals.
  • Market Intelligence & Analytics
    • Conduct advanced market analysis and modeling to ensure competitive and equitable pay practices.
    • Lead compensation benchmarking efforts using industry surveys and internal data.
    • Develop and present compensation dashboards and insights to executive leadership.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable compensation laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, pay equity, global standards).
    • Partner with HR leadership and Legal teams to manage risk and audit readiness.
    • Maintain compensation policies, documentation, and governance frameworks.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Mentor and develop compensation team, fostering a high-performing team culture.
    • Collaborate with Global Compensation, HR leadership, Business stakeholders and Finance to support compensation decisions and implementation strategies.
    • Partner with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Finance on compensation strategy alignment and execution.
    • Lead cross-functional projects related to compensation, such as job architecture, career frameworks, or system implementations.
    • Collaborate with global and local stakeholders on HRIS evaluations and implementations.
    • Analyze HRIS capabilities and efficiency. Provide recommendations on system improvements and modifications.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned or required by management.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

  • Experience: 8-10+ years of experience in compensation, including incentive plan design and market analysis. 3+ years in a leadership or senior advisory role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certifications: CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) is strongly preferred. SPHR is an asset.
  • Position-specific Qualifications:
    • Experience managing compensation programs in complex, matrixed, or global organizations.
    • Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving strategic initiatives.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in compensation theory, design and administration.
    • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
    • Ability to lead through ambiguity.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop, design, implement and monitor comprehensive programs, systems, policies, and procedures in the compensation area.
    • Ability to communicate and present effectively, with the ability to liaise across all organizational levels.
    • Excellent problem-solving and data-driven analytical skills.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office programs.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and navigate perpetual organizational changes.
  • Computer/Technological: Proficiency in HRIS and compensation tools (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, WTW, Mercer) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Language: Professional written and spoken fluency in English required.
  • Schedule: Generally Monday to Friday, full time; be on-call on some weekends (if required).
  • General Working Conditions: Be able to usually work in an office environment; flexible (hybrid) work arrangements available.
  • Travel: Be able to travel up to 10% of the time, including internationally; must have a valid passport.

Compensation

The base salary is one part of our Total Rewards package and is determined within a range. The starting base salary range for this position is listed below; the actual starting salary will be based on a variety of factors including experience, skill set, education, performance, licenses/certifications, business needs and other job-related factors, as permitted by law.

  • Starting Base Annual Salary Range: $116,360 - $176,000
  • Bonus Eligibility: This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on a combination of company and individual performance.
