Salary Range: $16.78 to $23.50 per hour (under review)

Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Intern will support the City's efforts to inform, engage, and build trust with the public while protecting and enhancing the City's reputation. Working closely with the Manager of Marketing and Communications and the Marketing and Communications Specialist, the intern will assist in the development and delivery of a variety of communications and marketing materials.Responsibilities
  • Key focus of this role will be contributing to the redesign of the City's website and improvement of its digital content. Collaborate with departments across the organization to understand the services they provide and use data and analytics to refresh and optimize website content.
  • You will apply your technical and communication skills to ensure content is user-focused, accessible, and easy to navigate, helping to create a seamless and informative online experience for the public.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team and other City departments to develop and create website copy.
  • Contribute to the development of corporate strategic marketing communications initiatives.
  • Develop digital media content for city social media accounts and platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned to assist the Marketing and Communications Team.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will:
  • Working towards a post-secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, Digital Arts or a related field.
  • Have excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
  • Using a Content Management System
  • Website accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Understanding or experience in the municipal sector.
Working Conditions
  • Scheduled 35-hour work week (Monday – Friday) in office
  • Duration – 12 weeks (420 hours)
  • May be required to work overtime.
