Focus Area / What Success Looks Like

Leadership & Safety

Guide a team of five technicians; run daily toolbox talks; uphold OH&S safety standards and drive 5S shop organization, cleanliness, and preventative maintenance.

Process Discipline

Ensure every job is time‑tracked and costed; close each day with a quick backlog and kitting review so tomorrow starts smoothly.

Financial Control

Prepare or approve all quotes using our web‑based pricing calculator and historical pricing info; protect margins and apply deposit/credit policies with confidence.

KPI Ownership

Maintain a weekly dashboard (revenue per tech‑hour, backlog days, first‑pass yield) and present findings in Monday shop‑health meetings.

Customer Engagement & Pricing

Deliver exceptional customer service-set clear expectations, negotiate realistic deadlines, and prepare accurate, value‑based quotes that protect margins.

Supplier Management

Maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate optimal pricing and terms, and coordinate parts availability to keep lead times tight.

Technical Oversight

Diagnose failures, approve rewind specs, and sign off final QA tests-stepping in on complex jobs when needed while keeping the crew productive.

Continuous Improvement

Lead at least one lean / 5S or cost‑reduction project per quarter and document measurable gains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily shop operations, delegate work based on skill and load, and uphold quality standards.

  • Generate accurate quotes, verify labour/material costs against motor‑replacement economics, and secure client approvals.

  • Serve as the technical customer contact: answer phone / email inquiries, provide status updates, and deliver timely quotations that set clear expectations.

  • Enforce electronic time‑tracking; audit discrepancies and coach team members as needed.

  • Maintain job inventory, order parts, and negotiate vendor terms to optimize cost and turnaround.

  • Update KPI dashboard by 10 AM each Monday and drive corrective actions on late jobs or re‑work.

  • Report directly to the owner with concise weekly updates on KPIs, staffing, bottlenecks, and continuous‑improvement progress-owning overall shop performance.

  • Mentor technicians, identify skill gaps, and coordinate cross‑training or external courses.

What You Bring

Must‑Have

5 + years managing a repair or manufacturing shop and leading a team

5 + years customer‑facing service and sales responsibilities

Proven experience tracking employee time and managing job costs in a digital system

Working knowledge of electric motor fundamentals and repair terminology

Excellent communication and organizational skills; proven ability to manage and develop staff-Solid work ethic with the ability to task‑shift quickly and stay calm under pressure

Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and a willingness to learn new cloud tools

Customer‑service mindset-able to set expectations, negotiate deadlines, and resolve issues promptly

Great-to-have:

5 + years hands‑on electric motor repair/rewind experience

Journeyman Electric Motor Systems Tech / Industrial Electrician ticket, Electric Motor Systems Technician (EMST) Certification

Lean, Six‑Sigma, 5S, or other CI credentials

Formal training in customer service or sales (CRM proficiency, Sandler/Dale Carnegie, etc.)

Strong financial literacy-comfortable reading a P&L and defending margins

Your First 90 Days

  • Day 30: All technicians actively using the digital time‑tracking system; daily toolbox talk and 5S checklist introduced.

  • Day 60: Smooth job flow-work orders moving without bottlenecks; quotes issued within 24 hours and customer expectations set in writing.

  • Day 90: Backlog trimmed with 95 % of jobs delivered on or before promised dates; shop maintains a high 5S score and the team self‑manages workflow.
