RECREATION PROGRAM LEADER

Number of Positions Available: 1
Hours: 1-10 hours per week, September 2025 – September 2026
Hours of work vary – daytime, evening and weekend shifts are available
Employee Group: Non-Union
Salary: $18.56 - $20.34 per hour
Closing Date: August 1, 2025 at 4:30 PM
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
As a member of the Community Services Department, these positions support recreation program offerings at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
This position will lead participants (in their designated recreational program) in a variety of general or special interest activities in a friendly, engaging and caring environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Follow the prescribed program plans through the implementation (leading), supervision and evaluation of the daily activities, to ensure a successful program.
  • Responsible for the completion of attendance and any required paperwork as per the Department procedures.
  • Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in an emergency situation and completing the necessary reports as per the Department procedures.
  • Responsible for problem-solving when issues arise and to provide quality customer service.
  • Ensure the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, and reporting damages or losses to Programmer.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the facility at the end of each program.
  • Attend all staff training sessions and scheduled staff meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum enrolled in Highschool, or equivalent
  • Current Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Experience planning and implementing programs for children/youth
  • Excellent Customer Service skills

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary school child-related, recreation, social work or related field of study
  • Coaching/Instructing certification (ie. National Coaching Certificate)
