Salary: $95,000 - $120,000 per year

To lead and enhance the quality of care and service delivery within a specialized area of clinical practice by providing expert guidance, up-to-date knowledge, and support to occupational therapists (OTs), customers and clients. The Clinical Lead will ensure excellence in solutions provided and uphold evidence-based standards across the team.

Role Summary:

The Clinical Lead is responsible for demonstrating excellence within the clinical practice area; work accommodation solutions. This role requires maintaining best practice standards, conducting report reviews, providing direct client care, managing customer clinical satisfaction, managing complex cases, and supporting occupational therapists in navigating client files. Additionally, the Clinical Lead will work closely with the service Director to align strategic goals, uphold high customer satisfaction, and foster continuous improvement.

Duties:

  • Excellence in Practice Delivery: Ensure that solutions are effective, up-to-date, and compliant with best practice guidelines in the specified area of clinical practice.
  • Knowledge Upkeep: Stay current with changes in practice, including new resources, standards, and guidelines.
  • Peer Review: Review reports completed by other OTs for quality assurance prior to customer submission.
  • Client and Customer Support: Offer specialized knowledge on workplace factors and provide support for specific customer needs. Developing and maintaining customer relationships with key corporate account contacts
  • Direct Client Care: Deliver client care with a determined percentage of billable hours, based on the portfolio.
  • Strategic Alignment: Report to the director to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Professional Standards and Evidence-Based Practice: Adhere to and promote high standards of professional practice and evidence-based approaches.
  • Customer and Client Interaction: Participate in customer calls, provide advice on complex cases, and ensure a positive experience for both clients and customers.
  • Collaboration with Customer Success: Partner with the internal parties to manage reporting, ensure adherence to timelines, and drive service improvements.
  • Training Development and Delivery: Create and deliver training for teammates and organizational partners within the clinical specialty.
  • Resources and tools: source equipment, resources, and tools to support OT program delivery.
  • Complaint Management: Address and resolve customer complaints, maintaining high standards of service.
  • Direction for OT Team: Guide OTs on file management and complexities specific to practice area and customer requirements.
  • Professional Development: Participate regularly in professional development activities within the clinical specialty.
  • Carrying out your duties and responsibilities with the highest level of integrity and judgment, using good quality methods, procedures, techniques and standards and exercising care, skill and diligence required by Gowan policies regarding quality and service
  • Familiarizing yourself with and abiding by the policies and practices as they may be amended from time to time

Education & Experience:

  • Masters or Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy (required)
  • Current license as an Occupational Therapist, in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a specialized clinical practice area (e.g., work accommodations, ergonomics, mental health, cognitive solutions).
  • Previous experience in a leadership or peer review role is preferred.
  • Experience working with employers and employees on complex work accommodation solutions
  • Experience with training key stakeholder groups in related topics; mental health, work accommodation, disability management, ergonomics; cognitive solutions.
  • Experience completing work accommodation, functional assessments and facilitating stay at work and return to work in various industries.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Specialized Knowledge: Expertise in one or more practice areas, such as work accommodations, ergonomics, mental health, or cognitive assessment and intervention solutions.
  • Up-to-Date Best Practices: Knowledge of best practices and current developments in the specific practice area.
  • Customer Interaction: Skills in client interaction, problem-solving, and complaint resolution.
  • Training Development: Proficiency in developing and delivering clinical (internal) and leadership (external) training.
  • Professional Standards Compliance: Commitment to maintaining professional standards and evidence-based practice.
  • Knowledge of Disability management standards. Legislation and best practices. Understanding the role of occupational therapy in workplace accommodation and creative solutions for disability management.

Communication:

  • Internal: Regular communication with OTs, account managers, and leadership.
  • External: Interaction with clients and customers to manage cases, provide updates, and handle complex situations.
  • Training Facilitation: Ability to effectively communicate and educate others through training sessions and resources. Demonstrates the ability to communicate professionally with employers

  • Client Satisfaction: Positive feedback and satisfaction scores from clients and customers; retention and growth of referrals within portfolio of customer accounts.
  • Billable Hour Target: Achievement of billable hour targets based on portfolio
    • Clinical Lead billable time and OT direct billing time
  • Training Effectiveness: Successful delivery and positive feedback from training sessions.
  • Complaint Resolution: Timely and effective resolution of customer complaints, with a low recurrence rate.
  • Practice Compliance: Adherence to up-to-date guidelines and professional standards.
  • Service Innovation: implementations of innovative improvement initiatives for programs.

Working Conditions:

  • Up to 8 hours sitting and using office equipment / computers
  • Home-office environment with travel for client, customer and team meetings.
