Company Description

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

We are seeking an HR Business Partner for the Ontario Line South Civils project - (one of the most iconic, high-profile and dynamic projects in Toronto Downtown). This role will report directly to the project's HR Lead and will be responsible for executing key HR processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting day-to-day HR needs across the project team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policies and Protocols: Implement and communicate HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across the project.
  • Employee Support: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, policies, leave, and employment documentation.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a smooth employee experience.
  • Labor Relations: Support the handling of employee relations issues, disciplinary actions, and union-related matters where applicable.
  • Payroll and Benefits Support: Collaborate with payroll teams to ensure accurate data collection and validation. Assist with local benefits administration.
  • Recruitment and Training: Coordinate interviews, manage candidate documentation, and support the logistics of mandatory and technical training sessions.
  • Reporting and Follow-up: Prepare regular HR metrics reports (e.g., absenteeism, turnover, hiring) and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all HR activities comply with Canadian labor laws and internal company policies.
  • Project HR Support: Work closely with the project HR Lead on audits, HR initiatives, and support project leadership.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources is preferred
  • Previous experience in generalist HR roles
  • Working knowledge of Canadian labour legislation (preferred).
  • Ability to operate in dynamic environments with multiple stakeholders.
