The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is currently accepting applications for a Full Time Manager, Quality, Risk & Patient Partnerships to join our team.

The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is comprised of two corporations with more than 1,000 staff, including physicians and volunteers, operating three vibrant acute care hospital sites: Groves Memorial Community Hospital (Fergus), and North Wellington Health Care (Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest & Palmerston and District Hospital in Palmerston).

The homesite for this position will be Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President, Quality and Clinical Services & Chief Nurse Executive, the Manager, Quality, Risk & Patient Partnerships leads the organization in providing high quality and safe care while implementing risk management strategies.

This position will support the Senior Management and Leadership teams to integrate quality and safety improvements and to implement risk management strategies to align with the strategic directions of Wellington Health Care Alliance. The Manager, Quality, Risk & Patient Partnerships, is responsible to lead the Quality program and Quality Improvements Plan (QIP) development, lead the Risk management portfolio including the HIROC Risk Registry across the organization, lead patient experience initiatives, and to lead Accreditation in collaboration with the clinical teams.

SUMMAY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote the use of quality improvement methodologies and tools for program-based projects, ensuring alignment with strategic initiatives and corporate objectives.
  • Train teams and individuals on the use of quality improvement processes and tools as required to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Contribute to the development, facilitation or successful utilization of risk management tools and frameworks such as Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, safeguard analysis, Lean, project management etc., as required.
  • Act as the lead for Patient Relationscollecting, investigating, and facilitating the resolution of client and family concerns.
  • Provide leadership and coordination within the organization to manage detected risks and lead the risk management reporting process, data collection and associated records.
  • Lead the development and achievement of the Annual Quality Improvement Plan according to legislated requirements.
  • Development and oversight of a comprehensive patient experience program, including patient experience surveys and patient relations.
  • Provide guidance to teams and departments in the formulation of safety plans and risk reduction/prevention strategies, quality initiatives and educational programs to enhance awareness of risk, quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Stay informed about and share updates on legislated indicators required by regulatory bodies (e.g., Ontario Health, Ministry of Health, Accreditation Canada, Public Health).
  • Lead the organization through accreditation surveys and oversee the integration of Accreditation Canada standards and Required Organizational Practices (ROPs).
  • Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with leaders and their teams.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Health Administration, Quality, Health Discipline, or a related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading quality and patient safety projects in a healthcare setting.
  • Healthcare Risk Management Certification is an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of legislation and regulatory environment applicable to hospitals/healthcare; including Excellent Care for All Act, Quality of Care Information Protection Act and Privacy Act.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in patient safety and risk management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects within a portfolio.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, establish benchmarks, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel.
  • Highly effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills combined with excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Hours of Work:37.5 hours per week

Travel will be required to our sites at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Palmerston & District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital, so a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle is required.

Salary Range: $59.76 - $69.91 per hour
