Company Description

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

Ontario Transit Group (OTG) is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Project Manager to lead and oversee critical infrastructure projects as part of the Ontario Line South initiative. Reporting to the Station Manager/Deputy Station Manager, the Civil Construction Project Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of civil construction projects within the Ontario Line South initiative
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and subcontractors, to develop comprehensive project plans and schedules.
  • Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Oversee the selection and procurement of construction materials, equipment, and subcontractors, negotiating contracts and agreements as needed.
  • Monitor and assess project progress, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Conduct regular site visits to inspect work, address issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
  • Foster a culture of safety and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all project phases.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Prepare and present project updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and records of communications.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, innovations, and best practices in civil construction.
Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil construction project management, including large infrastructure projects.
    • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and project management practices.
    • Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and construction management tools.
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams effectively.
    • Solid knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the construction industry.
    • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions in complex construction scenarios.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
    • PMP or P.Eng. certification is an asset to have.
