Hours: 9:00 AM 5:00 PM EST or 8:00 AM 4:00 PM PST. We can accommodate flexible schedules if needed.
Salary: $55,000 $65,000 per year
Role Overview
As part of our strategic expansion, A & A is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Post Entry Specialist to join our Canadian Operations team. The primary focus of this role is to perform post entry auditing to ensure compliance and accuracy after customs release. However, depending on daily workload and team priorities, the successful candidate will also support additional tasks within the compliance and operations functions. This flexibility is key to ensuring balanced workloads and optimal team performance.
This position has a direct reporting line to the Manager, Canadian Operations, with a dotted line to the Customs Compliance Supervisor, who will assign post entry auditing work and provide oversight on audit-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct post-release audits of customs entries with a focus on tariff classification, valuation, origin, and tax/duty assessment accuracy.
- Support A & As Day 3 compliance goals under CARM by identifying and addressing documentation gaps.
- Identify recurring errors, log findings, and support root cause analysis for corrective actions.
- Complete Free Trade Agreement (FTA) reviews and ensure proper qualification documentation is obtained and maintained.
- Respond to internal and client requests for part classification guidance and maintain classification records.
- Collaborate with compliance and operations teams to share insights and drive best practices.
- Assist in developing SOPs and internal training resources related to post entry processes.
- Support other operational or compliance-related tasks as assigned, depending on business needs and volume fluctuations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or a related regulatory field.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation required.
- Completion of the Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation is preferred, or a willingness to complete it. A & A will cover the cost of CTCS education for the right candidate.
- Solid understanding of CBSA regulations, trade agreements (e.g., USMCA), and post-entry audit processes.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
