Purpose of Position:
Attracts, gains and maintains loyalty of new and existing clients. Builds a client network and property reputation through in-person and on-line marketing, and through traditional and social media. Drives the success of our eatery and public house through the promotion of events and products. Provides entertainment and premier customer service to our guests by serving and preparing beverages.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Guides clientele through all phases of their experience to promote return visits and recommendations.
- Maintains and demonstrates expert knowledge of upcoming sports events, products, the site, menu (food and beverage), wine and beer selection and site events.
- Attracts, greets and provides service to clientele within time guidelines ensuring they feel welcome and receive extraordinary value for their entertainment expense.
- Provides entertainment to guests with flair moves and putting on a show while preparing and expediting beverages accurately according to guidelines and procedures.
- Exhibits proper selling techniques and delivers superior service using company's procedures and training manual.
- Initiates conversation and encourages clientele feedback and reports to management. Provides input on new marketing ideas.
- Provides solution to guests concerns and ensures clients' satisfaction within scope of position and financial guidelines.
- Whenever welcomed, gathers clientele e-mail contact info for clientele database use only.
- Notifies clientele of upcoming events in person, via e-mail, social media, or traditional communications. Generates enthusiasm for these events.
- Effectively communicates any clientele preferences to staff and management to ensure superior level of service as per guidelines.
- Maintains inventory of the liquor, cocktail garnishes, glassware and other supplies at the bar.
- Mixes signature cocktails and infused beverages for guests. Recommends new signature cocktails.
- Stocks and cleans work areas as required.
- Adheres to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures.
- Monitors guests' consumption of alcohol and notifies supervisor of over consumption.
- Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with all departmental policies/service procedures and standards.
- Introduces or presents live entertainment as required.
- Attends and participates at off-site community events to promote the restaurant/pub and community gaming centre as required.
- Participates in photo sessions to develop promotional materials as required.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Trendy sense of style and impeccable attention to personal image and property's atmosphere
- Excellent interpersonal skills – effective listening, strong judgement, outgoing, fun attitude, enthusiastic, professional
- Ability to entertain and attract guest's attention
- Proven selling, marketing, and service skills in a dining, retail, or promotions environment
- Effective public speaking skills and presence
- Basic math skills, ability to handle cash and credit and accurately make change
- Intermediate computer skills – e-mail, social media, credit card terminals, order system
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and oral
Experience, Training, Certification and Education (demonstrating requirements):
- 2 years of bartending experience in a high volume casual dining establishment
- Enrollment in or completion of marketing or hospitality diploma/certificate program or equivalent experience preferred
- 3 years' experience in a high volume restaurant/pub environment(casual dining)
- Serving It Right certificate
- Food Safe Level I certificate
- World Host / Super Host certificate or other similar customer service programs
- WHMIS training preferred
- Tourism, promotion, marketing, entertainment, event training experience preferred
- Fluency in second language preferred.
- Knowledge of specialty food and beverage items
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Must be 19 years or older
- Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and ability to lift and move beverage kegs and other bar supplies
- Ability to bend and crouch down low shelf units and reach up to storage area
- Ability to toss and catch accurately – good hand eye coordination
- Ability to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events needed
- Tolerance for use of cleaning chemicals and fragrances found in these environments
