We are currently seeking a dedicated and hands-on Assistant Welding/Fabrication Technician to join our Fabrication Department. This is a physically demanding role ideal for individuals who are technically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.The role involves custom stainless steel and metal fabrication related to pools, spas, water features, and other unique design-build projects. Work is split between shop-based fabrication and on-site installations.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in welding, fabricating, polishing, and finishing custom stainless steel and metal components
- Read and interpret welding blueprints and technical drawings
- Operate welding equipment (MIG/TIG), shop tools, CNC equipment, hoisting/lifting tools
- Support project installations across GTA and other sites as required
- Collaborate with various departments including construction and design
- Adhere to Ontario Building Code, Health Regulations, and municipal bylaws
- Handle material weights up to 70 lbs; follow safety protocols at all times
- Perform minor equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting
- Participate in cross-training (plumbing, acrylic applications, cladding)
- Comply with daily instructions from supervisors, project managers, and senior management
- Physically fit, mechanically inclined, and able to handle heavy-duty tasks
- Experience in metal fabrication (especially stainless steel) is a strong asset
- Familiarity with shop equipment: brake/shear, CNC mandrel bender, drill press, etc.
- CWB certification and/or college welding training is an asset
- Experience in polishing, acrylic, cladding, or rigging is an advantage
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexible and adaptable – able to manage changing tasks and weather conditions
- Experience in construction trades (tiling, cement, waterproofing, carpentry) is an asset
- Must own required safety gear (steel-toed boots, welding helmet, etc.)
- Must have valid G Driver's License, clean abstract, and own vehicle
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and be bondable
- Notoriously dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Full-time hours (40–50 hrs/week), with potential for overtime
- 6-day work weeks during peak season
- Start times vary (typically between 6:30–7:00 AM)
- Must be willing to travel to project sites (paid once work starts on-site)
