Tim Hortons Research & Development Department
Reporting to the Plant's R&D Manager, the incumbent will assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the plant's quality systems and programs.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in food science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2–4 years of experience in R&D or industrialization, preferably in the beverage or syrup sector.
- Solid knowledge of food processing equipment and formulation principles.
- Experience with sensory evaluation and product shelf-life testing is an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Understanding of syrup batching, blending systems, and beverage filling operations.
- Familiarity with industrial plant trials and commercialization processes.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., CFIA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, formulation software, and lab instrumentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
1.Product Industrialization
- Lead and support scale-up activities for syrups and beverages from pilot to full production.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams to ensure seamless product transfer.
- Validate product formulations and process parameters during industrial trials to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance.
- Optimize formulations for manufacturability without compromising quality or sensory profile.
2. R&D Process Support
- Participate in the development of new syrups and beverage concepts, supporting bench-top formulation through to industrial readiness.
- Conduct formulation trials and technical tests to assess the impact of ingredients, process conditions, and equipment scale-up.
- Generate detailed reports and documentation of all trials, adjustments, and outcomes for future reference and audits.
3. Technical Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date product specifications, manufacturing instructions, and industrialization protocols.
- Ensure all R&D activities are compliant with food safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Support the development of control plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new products.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Serve as a technical liaison between R&D and operations teams for syrup and beverage projects.
- Contribute to project timelines, risk assessments, and cost analyses during commercialization phases.
- Provide training or technical guidance to plant personnel during the initial production of new products
