• plan, coordinate and administer contracts
• prepare drawings and/or collaborate with design
• interpret specifications, drawings, plans and designs; complete contract drawings and documents during pre-contract phase for construction issues
• provide technical and administrative support to ensure contract delivery What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements• This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's license upon being hired.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:• you have knowledge of engineering principles relating to construction, maintenance, road design and utility relocation for the preparation, administration, acceptance of Regional tenders and contracts
• you have knowledge of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to the preparation of tenders, contract administration and contract payments
• you have knowledge of construction safety methods and practices
• you have the ability to read, interpret and amend contract documents and plans
• you have knowledge of financial reporting procedures to maintain records, track budgets and forecast expenditures
• you have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and acts to provide advice
Analytical, Evaluative and Decision-Making Skills:•you can review, recommend and identify road rehabilitation alternatives and utility relocation
•you can plan, organize, monitor, prioritize work and set individual assignments
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:•you can use tact and diplomacy when interacting with clients
•you can prepare reports and present findings
•you can negotiate design and contract languages on behalf of the ministry in a productive and constructive manner
•you can establish and maintain effective relations with both internal and external stakeholders
