Residence and Student Life work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders and partners across the University and community to enrich the student experience and support student success. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost, Student Affairs, the Director, Residence and Student Life is accountable for all aspects of leadership in Residence, Student Life, Orientation, Student Code, Student Development and Community Engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of both strategic and operational plans for applicable units and establish annual planning, monitoring, reporting and assessment framework.
  • Provide oversight of Residence Code of Conduct and Student Code of Conduct.
  • Work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with university partners in support of residence and student life mandate.
  • Hold responsibility for the full scope of financial and personnel management, leading a team of eight direct reports and several student staff.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of program plans including Residence Assistant and Community Assistant training, orientation, residence and off-campus programming and professional development.

Qualifications: Master’s-level degree in a Student Affairs related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in a leadership role is required, preferably in a student-focused, post-secondary environment. Financial and human resource management experience are required in addition to cross-cultural competence and experience in supporting diverse populations. Demonstrated experience in program planning, assessment, and evaluation is required. Project and change management experience and training is an asset. Experience in restorative justice practices is preferred.

Salary Range:  $75,283-101,853 per annum (ADM-08). This is a provisional classification. Formal classification procedures will be initiated by the Compensation & Job Evaluation Unit in approximately six months.
