Reporting to the Course Material Manager, this position coordinates the procurement of course materials for the university worth approximately $4 million annually.
- Oversee all aspects of purchasing course materials and returns including implementing and advising Faculty of deadlines, researching costs and options for content.
- Use discretion to order and purchase appropriate quantities of course materials, reference materials, Dalhousie authored publications, trade books, Dal Reads books, study aids, dictionaries, and other materials of interest to the clientele of Dalhousie.
- Liaise with publishers, and ensure timely and cost effective delivery of traditional and non-traditional course materials (ex: clickers).
- Represent the Bookstore with professors, students, publishers, wholesalers, and the general public.
Qualifications: completion of a business undergraduate degree or recognized post-secondary business course plus 3-5 years’ experience purchasing university level course materials (or equivalent combination of training and experience in a university environment). Good knowledge of retail business operations. Experience with a computerized ordering and inventory control system is a requirement. Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Excellent oral and written communication and excellent customer service skills required. Microsoft office skills and demonstrated effectiveness in problem solving and dealing with difficult situation is highly desired. Higher-education publishing experience is an asset.

Salary Range: $23.57 - $28.74 per hour (32.5 hours per week, $$39,827 - $48,570 annually). (C-6) This is a provisional classification. Formal classification procedures will be initiated by the Compensation & Job Evaluation Unit in approximately six months.
