ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Western Zone invites applications from Emergency Medicine Physicians to join the Emergency Department at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL on a sessional, fee-for-service basis. The successful candidate will be expected to provide 12-hour rotational shifts.
The WMRH Emergency Department offers equitable and predictable shift scheduling with solo and double coverage models. Core generalist specialty support, point-of-care ultrasound, and 24-hour diagnostic imaging and laboratory services are available on site.
Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Current certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and ATLS
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Special competency in Emergency Medicine not required but considered an asset
- Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive emergency medicine care to patients of all age groups
- Work scheduled 12-hour rotational shifts in an equitable and predictable format
- Perform and interpret point-of-care ultrasound as required
- Collaborate with core specialty and support services available on site
- Provide virtual care services as required
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
REMUNERATION
Remuneration is in accordance with the Medical Care Plan (MCP) guidelines for Category A Emergency Departments.
