We are hiring for the brand new role of Community Engagement Coordinator.

Are you passionate about connecting with people and helping communities stay informed and engaged? We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating engaging outreach materials, and representing municipal initiatives in the community. From programs like solid waste reduction to broader municipal services and projects, this role is all about helping residents connect with the programs and services that impact their daily lives. The Community Engagement Coordinator will participate in community events and provide public education, including the development and delivery of the solid waste education outreach deliverables, and overall support to the Communications team on public engagement.

Responsibilities will include developing accessible educational materials, creating and managing digital content, and ensuring consistent, accurate messaging across municipal programs and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in communications, public relations, graphic design, marketing or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in communications or marketing
  • Knowledge of graphic design programs including proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Canva, Photoshop. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking and customer service skills with the demonstrated ability to exercise tact, leadership, good judgement and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge and experience in creating engaging content and the ability to distill technical information into easily digestible content for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent organizational, research and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening, collaboration and trust building skills.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive, customer service-oriented culture with a solid understanding of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, and availability to attend evening, weekend and holiday events
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Municipality
