Job Description:
We are looking for someone with diverse skills and background with RDBMS and NoSQL technologies, to carry out a broad range of operational, engineering service, and support assignments. You'll join others in environment management, maintenance, monitoring, performance, incident management, as well as production support activities. There's meaningful work at every turn! Though it is a very operational type role, we all wear engineering hats to better and broaden our presence and skills to better serve TD Securities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Well-rounded DBA with a full set of operational responsibilities for database administration, security and compliance, backup & recovery, and maintenance.
- Mentor DBA's, manage workloads and prioritize tasks.
- Facilitate team standups and technology knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Lead database-related components of med to large projects.
- Communication of risks, timelines, and status to management.
- Assist in the creation, and maintenance of a roadmap for database development, operations, and engineering.
- Assist in the creation, maintenance of system, process, standards documentation.
- Utilize RDBMS and NoSql subject matter expertise to design or re-use, configure, and implement database solutions/processes that maximize system availability, efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, security, recoverability, and supportability, all while minimizing costs.
- Job may contain after-hours support for project-related work as well as scheduled changes.
EXPERIENCE
Must Haves (Key Skills):
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building and administering Oracle/Oracle RAC environments (12c, 19c) or:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in building and administering SQL Server environments (2012, 2016, 2019)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a NoSQL Database Administrator.
- In-depth knowledge of NoSQL database design, operation, and implementation best practices.
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL and NoSQL queries.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Identifying and providing resolution for shortcomings or issues identified to include design, implementation, security, performance, or architecture.
- Significant working knowledge of distributed database deployment, monitoring, and management.
- Working with development teams in an Agile scrum environment.
- Backup and Disaster recovery expertise for Cloud-Based MongoDB deployments.
- Working knowledge of Cloud Computing and Azure/VMWare Technologies, OCAC, GCP
- Demonstrated experience utilizing Database centric solutions to deliver High Availability and Disaster Recovery. Awareness of non-Database centric capabilities (HACMP, VCS, TrueCopy)
- Working knowledge with storage subsystems
- Clear understanding of ITIL/Scrum framework
- 5 yrs Project-based work as well as lead and operational support-related experience
- 5 yrs management of 100+ servers
- Must be able to effectively represent DBA team on escalated incident management calls from operations and Sr. Management review.
- Understanding of TD Methodology of designing, building, deploying and operating Unix/Linux, Windows server solutions that involve best practices and are consistent with project objectives and client requirements.
- Provide management escalation for support calls including on-call after hours support.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with high demands and tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates experience involving strong communications skills (written and verbal), proven ability to effectively interact with individuals across business units and at various levels within the Bank (technical, business, including Management).
- Highly organized and possessing strong analytical skills.
- Open-minded and highly adaptable with ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment.
- Must be team-oriented with ability to work well with multiple teams in a cross-functional setup.
- Self-motivated, with strong sense of ownership and urgency to deliver projects/tasks in a timely fashion.

- Teamwork - strong relationships with developers and business analysts, architecture & operations
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Effective time management skills and ability to work under deadlines and operational pressure
