We're looking for a Quality Engineer (1-Year Term Contract) who thrives at the intersection of innovation and precision. THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Quality Engineer will play a key role in continue to develop, standardize, document and improving the systems, methods, and practices that ensure the quality and consistency of Salient's energy storage products and manufacturing processes. You'll collaborate across R&D, engineering, and production teams to advance our structured quality frameworks, implement process controls, and build data-driven monitoring systems that move our product from prototype to pilot production and beyond. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement structured quality systems and procedures aligned with best practices for battery manufacturing.
- Ensure accurate documentation, traceability, and version control for procedures, work instructions, and quality records.
- Collect and analyze process data from pilot and production lines to identify variation and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct and support root cause analyses using structured problem-solving tools (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC).
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives across multiple technical teams.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to validate material, component, and supplier quality.
- Implement statistical quality tools such as control charts, process capability studies, and FMEA documentation.
- Maintain organized and current SOPs, PCPs, and quality documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 1-5 years in a manufacturing, process, or quality engineering role (ideally in energy storage, energy systems, or chemical processing).
- Strong working knowledge of QMS systems, data collection, and process monitoring.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement (certification preferred).
- Experience using FMEA, control charts, and root cause analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analytics; experience with Minitab, JMP, or Python is an asset.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related discipline).
- Advanced degrees or certifications in energy systems, project management, or systems integration are considered assets.
