Salary: NS34000 ($49.17 - $60.99 per hour) The following Sign on Incentives may be applicable and can be combined:

Job Summary
The position of RNFA in the Cardiovascular Service will require extensive knowledge in perioperative nursing. In conjunction with the advance practice O.R. role, the RNFA will be expected to fulfill other perioperative roles. This will include the duties of scrub nurse, circulating nurse and patient nurse. These roles are not assumed concurrently. The RNFA will be expected to provide "on call coverage" for the operating room for the cardiovascular service and be available for extended working hours.

Constantly moves/lifts up to 10 lbs., regularly moves/lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally is required to restrain/reposition/move/lift up to 30 lbs. Pushes/pulls up to medium force.
Constantly stands/walks and works in awkward or cramped positions to assist with procedures.
Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, to complete documents, follow directions, administer medications, etc.
May be subject to time pressures/deadlines and subject to lack of control over work pace.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
Current practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Completion of a RN First Assistant Program is required.
Minimum of 5 years current perioperative experience within the last 7 years is required.
Demonstrated competency in scrub and circulating roles is preferred.
CNA certification for Perioperative nursing is preferred.
Demonstrated competency in organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.
Evidence of active involvement with continuous educational activities.
Membership in professional organizations/special interest groups would be considered an asset.
Experience in the preceptorship/mentorship role would be an asset.
ACLS course must be completed prior to assuming RNFA role.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.

*The successful applicant must be willing to complete the RNFA course within 6 months of commencing the position if not already completed.
